What

The Ophthalmology Updates! Conference was borne out of the need that all ophthalmologists require constant upskilling in ophthalmic subspecialty topics. It has been designed with the intention of bringing together the brightest minds from each ophthalmic subspecialty to update us on their field.

Who

This conference is for:

  • General ophthalmologists who want to consolidate their knowledge and learn about new topics they may have heard
  • Subspecialty ophthalmologists who want a refresher on other subspecialties they should know more about but have forgotten
  • Registrars preparing for RANZCO examinations

How

The conference will be held in an informal, friendly atmosphere. Invited speakers will prepare 3 talks, each lasting 15 minutes:

  • A "common" subspecialty condition
  • A 'frontier" topic on a topical subject (but not still in trials or experimental)
  • A case-based discussion

The talks will be practical, interactive and targeted at the level of the general ophthalmologist. In addition there will be talks on medico-legal and accounting issues. To facilitate an informal atmosphere, dress is strictly smart casual (no ties or suits please!). Attendees will be provided with a copy of all the talks. The conference is approved for 12 Level 1 RANZCO and 10 Orthoptic Australia CPD Points.
